My gift to you!
Wedding Industry Maven and a Marketing and Conversion Strategist.
She works with overworked wedding professionals to increase their profitability and cut their workload in half using her Endless Engagement method, so they can have long term success without scrambling to get couples and getting lost in the weeds of running their business.
Social media marketing can be tough – especially for wedding businesses who are just starting out. I have been actively involved with many wedding pros, but most recently wedding planners seek my advice on a regular basis to help get their marketing converted into booking more weddings.
You may be struggling to get brides through your social media marketing. Everyone says you need to be on social media, but you feel like it is sucking your time with little to no return, am I right?! Well, you are not alone!
Don’t let social media marketing overwhelm you!
Here are common mistakes wedding professionals make on social media!
Yep! That’s it. I said it! This is the most common problem I hear!
It’s understandable that you have no time to connect with your audience, especially when your time is limited during the wedding season.
Don’t use this as an excuse! Connecting with your audience takes very little time, and can have a big impact on your wedding planning business. Engage with your audience and share their wedding-related posts instead of starting your own.
If you don’t know where to start, I suggest checking out some other wedding vendors’ profiles as a place to start and take wedding inspiration from! This will give you an idea of what your audience is looking for.
Just remember, social media is a great way to let your audience know how great you are, but it is not a place for posting about your business challenges!
This goes hand-in-hand with being consistent. You don’t have enough time to post when you are in the thick of the wedding season, so when do you find the time?
I suggest thinking about it now. Post new content – new content, be it advice about wedding planning sharing new ideas, or a video explaining why they should book you.
Now is the time to choose your hashtags, your photos, and your voice. Even a selfie with a wedding tip would do.
I can’t stress enough how important it is for a wedding planning business to plan ahead. Sure, you’re busy now with the wedding party for your potential clients, but planning ahead will save you time in the long run!
Would you believe me if I said that you could plan your social media in an hour? It’s true! Just find an hour when no one will be able to bother you and do this.
Argh! That’s where many people struggle! A complete profile is one of the most important keys to business success!
A complete profile helps your ideal clients feel secure, knowing that you are a legitimate business with real down-to-earth people. If your profile is incomplete, it will say to the potential bride “I’m not really a business.”
I know it’s very tempting to think “but if I don’t have enough experience/followers/client on my page then no one will ever notice me!” That’s not true. So many people are looking for the wedding services you provide.
But, they look at your profile instead of making a decision to hire you! They need to know more about you before they can hire you!
That’s why your profile needs to say enough about you. What does your bio speak about you? What do your profile and cover photos say about what you can do?
Be sure to spend some time on your intro, too. Let people know what you do, your experience in the field, and what you can do.
I mean if you look at my Instagram or Facebook profile, doesn’t it stand me out from the crowd? My profile shows off my great pictures and marketing knowledge along with stating what I do and how I can help.
Check here: Oh, and feel free to connect with me on Facebook or Instagram!
My intro has a link to my website, it shows people who I am, what I’m about, and what I do. All of that in just a few quick chunks! Plus, it’s easy to change this info whenever you want!
Ok, now it’s your turn. Is your profile is incomplete, right? Go spruce it up!
I know, I know. It’s hard enough to get people to notice your page in the first place! But if you want more followers, you need to make your profile stand out.
And the best way to make your profile stand out is by having good photos!
We’ve talked about this before, but it bears repeating. Make sure that your photos are color-coordinated. It’s a fast way to tell the world who you are and what you do.
So what’s your profile missing? Maybe you’ve got great photos and a complete intro… But no marketing strategy? Maybe you’ve got a great strategy, but lack implementation. No worries, analyze what is working well and what you need to do better, and then build it into your calendar
Now, let’s talk about hashtags for your business.
Do you know what one of the easiest ways to get more followers is? Use hashtags.
Hashtags get you more visibility and make it easier for people to find you. But, there’s a catch: not all hashtags are right for your business.
And here’s where many people struggle! The wrong hashtags can really hurt you because it looks like you don’t know what you’re doing.
Take a look at the hashtag strategy that I used for this recent post. I use #weddingindustryexperts #weddingpros #wedding #2022wedding #weddingplanners #2022weddingplanning
Now it’s your turn, what hashtags are you using in your wedding planning business?
My hashtags aren’t too aggressive, either. I know that a big hashtag like #lovewins is going to get me too lost from all the other posts that are using that same hashtag. Using large hashtags will not get you more followers and it is probably not going to pull in your ideal client but it’s also not good for my business.
Now it’s your turn. Go check out your hashtags!
I love using these little “marketing” emojis in my status updates or comments. They’re just stickers, but I’m sure you can find similar ones on Facebook.
I do use them in my posts, comments, and tweets as well! When you’re sharing a post or photo, why not include an emoji?
Check these screenshots:
I also like to use emojis when sharing quotes. If you’re posting a quote, try calling attention to it by adding an emoji.
This is absolutely a must! Did you have a successful wedding event with your ideal clients? Then share it with the world!
I can’t tell you how much I’ve heard from other wedding pros and wedding planners about it. Think about it: what’s going to help you more, a post that tells me “how-tos”, or a post that tells me about someone else who got great results using the services you provide?
That’s right, sharing real-life success stories is what will get you noticed!
For instance, check this post:
