The wedding industry is all about visuals. If you are a wedding business but not utilizing Pinterest to its fullest potential, you are missing out!
When it comes to wedding planning, Pinterest is – without a doubt – one of the first places couples go-to for wedding inspiration. This social media platform is incredibly versatile, allowing users to create boards for every detail of their wedding – from the dress to the cake.
Whether you are a wedding photographer or wedding professional, having your Pinterest profile can be a powerful marketing tool. By creating boards that are specifically tailored to your target audience, you can attract more clients and create a sense of trust and familiarity.
In this blog post, I plan to discuss how Pinterest can be used to market a wedding business. I will also provide tips on how to create boards that are both effective and engaging.
Let’s start with the very basic question I get from my students all the time:
The answer is a resounding “Yes!” Pinterest as a wedding can be used by wedding professionals in various ways, from creating boards that showcase their work to using it as a tool for marketing.
In order to understand how Pinterest can be used for wedding marketing, it’s important to first understand how the Pinterest account works.
Pinterest is a social media platform that allows users to create boards for every detail of their lives. These boards can be public or private and can include anything from text to images to videos.
Users can “pin” images and videos onto their boards, and these pins can be shared with others. Additionally, Pinterest has a search function that allows users to find pins based on keywords or topics.
Now that we have a basic understanding of how Pinterest works let’s discuss how it can be used for wedding marketing.
Pinterest is a visual social media platform, which means that it is perfect for showcasing photos and videos of weddings. In fact, a study by WeddingWire found that 48 million people use Pinterest to plan their weddings.
What’s more, Pinterest is an excellent platform for building trust with potential clients. By creating boards that are specifically tailored to your target audience, you can attract new clients and create a sense of trust and familiarity.
Finally, Pinterest is a great way to track your wedding business’s marketing efforts. By creating a board called “Wedding Marketing,” you can keep track of all the pins that relate to your business. This will help you to track the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns.
Pinterest – like any other social media platform – should be used strategically.
In my mentorship program, we do not just start throwing pins up on boards and hope for the best. I have a complete process that I use to help my students maximize the potential of this visual social media platform.
Do you want to attract brides? Groom? Wedding planners? Or maybe all of the above?
Once you have determined your target audience, you can create boards specifically tailored to them. For example, if you target brides, you might create your own personal brand board called “Wedding Dresses.”
The point is to be strategic in your board naming and make sure that the titles are catchy and interesting enough to entice potential clients to click.
For instance, let’s say you design wedding dresses, and you want to use Pinterest as a marketing tool. You could create a board called “Elegant Wedding Dresses” or “Boho Wedding Dresses.” The key is to make sure that your target audience will be interested in the content of your board.
I usually suggest using a title that will catch attention no matter where the potential client is browsing.
Check this board name: “13 Jaw-Dropping Wedding Gowns You Won’t Believe Are from Amazon.” This title is sure to catch the attention of any bride who is browsing Pinterest for wedding dress ideas.
Now, if you see these boards in the screenshot, none is using such persuasive names, which means if you are using Pinterest to market your wedding gowns, you can use hookable board names to make yours stand out, be clicked on, and generate traffic back to your website.
Social media will not take you anywhere unless you use the right tools and techniques. The same is the case with Pinterest; you need to use optimized keywords and images to get better results.
The key to using keywords on Pinterest is to be as specific as possible. If you are a wedding dress designer, some of the keywords that you might use are “wedding dress,” “bridal gown,” and “lace wedding dress.”
In addition to using keywords in your board titles, you should also use them in the descriptions of your pins. For example, if you have a pin that features a photo of a lace wedding dress, you might use the following description: “This lace wedding dress is perfect for a bride who wants to look elegant and timeless.”
Let me ask you a question if you are a bride-to-be, and you are searching for a wedding dress on Pinterest, which pins are you more likely to click on?
The ones that are verified, of course!
The same goes for wedding professionals. If you want to use Pinterest as a marketing tool, it is essential to get verified.
Verification stands out on Pinterest, and it shows potential clients that you are a credible source.
This is what Pinterest says about merchants who are verified:
So, go ahead and get verified! It’s a simple process, and it’s definitely worth it.
Check out their guidelines on how to get started with verification.
Rich pins include extra information, such as prices and descriptions. They are a great way to showcase your expertise as wedding professionals or wedding photographers and give potential clients a glimpse of what you have to offer.
For instance, if you are a wedding planner, you might want to use a rich pin to showcase your planned recent event.
This is what a rich pin looks like:
The screenshot above clearly shows a difference between rich pins and normal pins. As you can see, rich pins include extra information, such as the price and a brief description.
To get started with rich pins, you first need to get your website verified. Once you have done that, you can begin adding rich pins to your website.
We talked initially that Pinterest is all about visuals, and it is no secret that product photography can make or break a sale.
Imagine a wedding professional who has a solid Pinterest marketing strategy, but their wedding pictures are not up to the mark. It won’t work!
This is why it is so important to invest in high-quality product photography.
Let’s say you arrange wedding events and want to show off your work on Pinterest. You can take pictures of wedding decorations, centerpieces, photos of bride and groom, etc.
But if these pictures are not high-quality, they will not generate sales.
On the other hand, if you have amazing product photography, it can help you close more sales.
So, make sure you invest in quality product photography if you want to use Pinterest as a marketing tool.
I have my strategy for product photography that I want to share with you.
It is quite simple, really.
Your product photography will definitely stand out on Pinterest if you can follow these simple tips.

When is the best time to pin?
Let me ask you a question. When do marriages usually occur in the US?
The answer is in the fall and winter.
This is because most couples want to get married during these seasons so they can have their dream wedding.
So, if you are a wedding professional, you need to make sure you are pinning during these seasons.
This is when people are actively searching for wedding-related content for wedding inspiration, and if you can provide them with what they are looking for, you are more likely to close a sale.
There you have it! These are the six tips you need to follow if you want to use Pinterest as a wedding professional.
If you are ready to take your wedding business to the next level, it is time to start using Pinterest.
Remember, Pinterest is all about visuals, and if you can create high-quality pins that capture the attention of your target audience, you are more likely to close a sale.
Also, the important thing is the posting strategy. Timing is everything, and you need to make sure you are pinning at the right time.
