You open the mail and are so excited…
A guest returned their RSVP card.
First off, you think…whew my guests received my invitations
…Then you look at the response and you see the guest has RSVP’d for 8 people.
This can’t be, you didn’t invite all their kids. you only accounted for 2 in the guest count.
Panic sets in…
You start to think about what if other guests do this same thing.
Your numbers will be way off and the budget is blown
Don’t panic…there is a solution!
In this video, I share with you how to ensure that your guests only RSVP for the number of people you have accounted for.
Hi there. Carissa Kruse here. Hey, I just want to chat and share a little bit more with you today about RSVPs. This is one, a question I get asked a lot about, and so I thought that you might be having the same question. The question that I usually get asked, specifically, is how do I make sure that somebody doesn’t RSVP for 10 people, or all five of their kids, or something along those lines because guest lists, you only have so many people, so available at times and you only want to maybe pay for so many people.
My trick for this is to, on your RSVP card, to actually write, “We have reserved blank seats for you.” I don’t know if you can kind of see this, but it actually gives you an idea. Then what you will do is you will actually take and write in how many seats you have reserved for that family. Maybe it’s two, maybe it’s four if they have a couple of kids, but that way they know specifically when they get the invitation that, “Hey, I only have two seats, so that would be me and my husband,” for instance, or “I have four seats and that would be me and my two kids.” That is kind of a trick that we’ve used to kind of help get around that, because what we’ve realized is people will just because you write on the outside of the envelope, “Jane Doe and guest,” doesn’t necessarily mean that they really follow along to that, and understand that it’s just two of them. That’s kind of my quick snippet for today. Just to kind of give you a trick on that.
I also thought I would show you a few of our other RSVPs just to kind of give you some inspiration. Another trick that I do, I guess, that I’m just thinking of now is to make it into a postcard. You would do an RSVP postcard like this. You’d have the RSVP on one side and then the postcard on the back, actually already has their name and everything printed, so you don’t have to worry about labeling an envelope and you can use a postcard stamp instead of a regular stamp, so you actually save a little bit of money too on postage. Otherwise, you have to do an envelope like this and you have to have this then addressed, so you’re paying for the envelope, addressing, or you have to address it yourself. Yeah. So I recommend a postcard. I will tell you too, that our couples actually get a better response back with the postcard than they do with the envelope. I think it’s just because it’s so much easier for them to fill out and just drop it in the mail quickly. Yeah. That’s kind of that.
I will show you just a couple of RSVPs that you can kind of… Kind of give you some inspiration. There’s another one. And I’m hoping these aren’t backward for you guys. This is actually the one I wanted to show you too is, this is like a Mad Libs one they did, which is super cute. On it, I’ll read it to you, so it says like, “We are,” and then has, “adjective to hear about your upcoming wedding celebration.” Then it has a checkmark. “We can’t wait for the adjective day to see you verb down the aisle,” and it just kind of goes on or whatever. Then it has love at the bottom, and then the people sign their name. You can kind of do some fun stuff with RSVPs too.
Anyways, I am super excited for you guys to create your RSVP. If you’ve got any questions, feel free to reach out, comment. But yeah, I will see you next time.
