And usually, your budget gets blown apart by some easily forgotten items…
But, knowledge is power!
So before you go abandoning your wedding budget forever, watch this now and let’s get you and your wedding budget back to being BFFs fast!
Hello there. Carissa Kruse here. Hey. Today I want to talk about hidden costs to budget for. So the big, scary B word, budget. So within that, there are some things that I have learned over the years that surprise bride last minute and so I want to make sure that you’ve got these accounted for in your budget. So there’s a list here that I’m going to read through. So if you want to grab your paper and pen and make sure you jot these down.
The first one is any delivery and pickup fees. So delivery and pickup fees are if you have rentals or things like that, chairs, things along those lines, there might be some additional fees that add up. And then if you have any set up and pack down fees. So if there’s anything from a setup standpoint, maybe if your venue has any hidden fees that they didn’t disclose, that’s always something to take into account.
Wedding insurance, that is something that you might want to look into, especially with the coronavirus pandemic and things like that. Wedding insurance is a great option and usually not too costly. So that just might be something that you want to look into. Vendor meals. Usually, you’re required within your contracts to pay for vendor’s meals. So if you’re doing a buffet, a lot of times, that’s not a big deal because you end up usually having enough food. But if you do plate, usually you need to count for each headcount and so there are usually vendor meals.
Bachelor’s, bachelorette parties are usually another cost that usually has some expenses with regards to those. Unless for some reason, you have somebody’s picking up the tab for those. Thank you gifts for your parents. Usually, you’ll do that. And for the wedding party, you’ll usually get them a thank you gift and any shipping and postage. So postage is another one for invitations that can add up a little bit. I do have some tips and tricks I use for postage as far as RSVPs and things like that. So I’ve got some tips and tricks I can share if you want any of that information. I think I’ve done another video kind of talking about that, but postage is a big one.
Dress alterations, that is another one that you might not think of when you
order your dress so budget in for some alterations. And then any ceremony
programs. If that’s something that’s important to you, that’s another thing to
budget in for. And then transportation for your wedding party and or guests if you need to do anything along those lines. And the last one is gratuity and taxes. So that’s one that I hear a lot about that brides didn’t realize and a lot of times it’s mostly with the venues. So they usually have a gratuity or tax and it might not even say what percentage it is. They just say it’s a state percentage, things like that. And if so, if it’s a hotel, those can be pretty costly. So make sure you find out what the total gratuity and taxes are when you go to sign the contract and or if you’ve already signed that contract, maybe goes back to them and ask them specifically what that amount is so you’ve got that budgeted into your overall numbers. So just wanted to give that quick rundown on several of these hidden costs that I hear brides don’t budget for. And just want to make sure you’ve got these things in your budget. They might not all pertain to you, but some of them might and so just want to make sure you have that info. So I will talk to you guys next time.
